Porters Park Golf Course
A golfing gem of a parkland course Porters Park is
located in rural Hertfordshire.
Established in 1899 with significant later restyling by
J.H. Taylor, one of the main features of this beautiful
parkland course is the brook that runs right through the
lower levels providing a natural water hazard. Eight holes
criss cross it on a wonderfully undulating terrain which
also includes excellent new bunkering designed by famous
European golfer, Neil Coles. There is a wonderful variety of
trees and a number of splendid long par four holes which
will challenge and delight the discerning golfer.
Each year the club plays host to a prestigious Open
Amateur event, the King George V Coronation Cup, and from
1984 to 89 was a regional qualifying course for the Open
Championship. In 2004, Golf Monthly gave Porters Park a
Silver rating in their UK/Ireland regional course rankings.
All in all, a rightful contender to be described as one
of Hertfordshire's best courses.
