BUSINESS LADIES We have approximately 22 business ladies who play their competitions at the weekend and have the opportunity to play cup competitions on a Tuesday if they so wish. At the end of the season they compete for the Business Ladies Cup. They are a friendly group of ladies who enjoy their golf. SCRATCH TEAM We have two teams in the league – A and B – not many clubs have two teams. There are 5 ladies in each team, playing off scratch, competing against other clubs in Hertfordshire for the Ovaltine Cup. LADIES ACADEMY We have run an Academy for two years for ladies who have not played golf before or those who would like to come back to the game. They have group lessons with the Pro. David Gleeson (beginners and intermediates). When David feels they are competent enough to play the course he will recommend them to join the Academy which entitles applicants to 12 rounds of 9 holes of golf after 5pm for a two month period. This is simply amazing. Offers public golf courses with a product or service that delivers golf lessons and golf online lessons. As in most sports, learning from a young age multiplies the chances of becoming an accomplished player or even a professional later on. The 18-hole course at Porters Park Golf Club and the quality of the practice facilities are well suited for juniors and pre-juniors to train and familiarise themselves with the game. Porters Park Golf Club offers coaching for both adult and junior golfers from our resident Professional Golfers Association (PGA) coach. Pre-Junior Golf aged 5 to 8 years. There is a growing pre-junior section at Porters Park Golf Club. Weather permitting we meet two Sundays a month for one hour. We have SNAG (Starting New At Golf), golf clubs of all sizes and some children use real golf clubs and balls (remember you are never too young). We have a good mixture of boys and girls and there is great enthusiasm from them all. If you don't want fun you can't come along. The children are nearly all children or grandchildren of members and the adults are encouraged to stay and help.
